A slight detour from original plans

Last night, I deviated from my originally-intended schedule of posting every Monday evening due to two main things...

First, I had a computer issue. A special thank you goes out to a close friend who will remain nameless (but you know who you are) for correcting the problem. I am pretty certain that I would have been stuck for a long time without a working browser had it not been for you.

Second, I ran out of time to prepare for what I wanted to post so I decided instead to focus on my shop. Now most of you reading this probably do not know what a tremendous feat this has been for me to get items posted for sale, but trust me, this has been a long time coming! Approximately 2 years, in fact!

And so, without further ado, I give you...(fanfare, drumroll and jazz hands!...) The Gilded Cog complete with actual items for sale!


Now the real work begins...I have more items to post soon, shop upkeep to learn, and hopefully orders to fill (one custom order will be the topic of an up-coming post).

Next Monday, I will return to my regularly-scheduled blogging, which will be food-related because it's been a while since I've done any gluten-free baking and I have a new treat in mind that will undergo testing this week.

After creating the cabinet boxes for my kitchen last year, I was inspired to do more. I have worked with wood before, but for some reason this time, the whole process really resonated with me. Two New Chakra Meditations

New House Exterior

All of us here in the Midwest seem to have suddenly awoken on the wrong side of The Wall . Despite the extreme cold (and my irrational fear of White Walkers…I mean, they are about as real as Grumpkins and Snarks), I have managed to do a little work for the exterior of my house. Just before Christmas, I had the siding on my house replaced. I ended replacing the old aluminum siding with heavy-duty vinyl siding. I've noticed that vinyl siding seems to illicit some strong opinions on the interwebs ( here's one ). I have mixed feelings about it myself. My project manager and real estate agent both had positive things to say about it, but on the next house when I do the siding work myself, I will probably look more into wood siding and maybe even try to salvage original materials if possible. Construction is one of the biggest industries contributing to waste, and I love the ideas of keeping the carbon footprint low and saving the historical value of a structure. But I digress. H...
