I haven't been sewing much lately. Okay, at all. It's not that a part of me isn't itching to dive into the pile of fabric currently inhabiting a corner of my living room. It's more that I've been distracted by other creative outlets. A week ago this past Sunday, I had a booth at the first annual Midwest Conjurefest, where I sold some of my creations. I was quite excited about it, actually. That day brought a lot of new acquaintances, made me a little extra money (to put back into materials with which to fuel the creative addictions, of course) and gave me the little boost of motivation that I need in order to do more with my shop.
A couple of years ago, I came up with these magnets for a particular occasion...
I was left with an abundance of them when the event was through, and finally decided to sell them. The material is glass with copper tape around the outer edge, which is aged to look more rustic. The paper is a variety of Steampunk-themed paper that I picked up at a local scrapbook store.
The owner of The Conjure Shop (the wonderful woman behind the Midwest Conjurefest) asked if I could make some Halloween and Day of the Dead themed magnets for her shop based on my Steampunk magnets. Here is a sneak peak of what I've come up with. These are the small (1") magnets...
And these are the large (1 1/2") magnets...
These will all be going to her shop tomorrow to see if they are something she wants to carry. My fingers are crossed. We have some others in the works too, but I'm waiting for the images, as those will be very specific to her store and the interests of her clients.
Whatever is left over of my Steampunk magnets will be going up for sale on my shop this week, along with these...
...Hand-dyed, hand-made silk tarot bags. I have 4 left out of my first run of approximately 30 bags. I have a custom order for 3 that I need to get cracking on plus some ideas for others to make for the holidays. I just found a new silk supplier that will allow me to keep these affordable and still make them out of silk so I'm pretty chuffed about it. Not to mention that I might order some extra to make a shirt for myself and experiment with Shibori dyeing.
